ARCHAEOLOGICAL MONUMENT CARE
PROFESSIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL SUPERVISION DURING CONSTRUCTIONS ON THE TERRITORY OF THE MLADÁ BOLESLAV DISTRICT
The Act of the Czech National Council No. 20/1987 Coll., On State Monument Care (the Monument Act), requires builders to announce and subsequently enable archaeological research in the affected area at the time of construction preparation. Failure to comply with this legal obligation may be fined and may also mean a dissenting opinion on the building approval. We therefore recommend timely notification of the plan to the relevant archaeological site (see below; full text of the Monuments Act here: http://www.arup.cas.cz/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/20_1987_Sb.pdf ).
For the territory of the Mladá Boleslav district, the authorized workplace is also the archaeological department of the Museum of the Mladá Boleslav Region, which provides supervision on small-scale investor (commercial) buildings and also on so-called civil engineering (especially new private houses; in this case the service is free). We recommend ordering archaeological supervision during larger investor constructions at the Institute of Archaeological Conservation of Central Bohemia in Prague. http://www.uappsc.cz/pro-stavebniky/
